Peppers and Tears

After Vera's saliva attack on my phone yesterday, the phone re-set itself to the 6th January and changed its time. I was up at 06:40 and Vera decided to sleep in until 08:15...
Good that she caught up on sleep though!
She's not been herself though so have been trying to entertain the little lady with walks, swings, car journeys, coffee outings and food. One of the favourites today was red peppers, as you can see from the photos. She also tried haloumi, which she really liked!

Vera 10 months old!

She celebrated with a great time at nursery and was feasting on chili con carne and mini pizza! They've been outside for a long walk and playing instruments.

Unfortunately she was a bit under the weather when she got home, teething. So was crying for a bit and the only time she was content was chewing my work blackberry and snacking on cheese. Neither too healthy!

Sun hat

Here's Vera trying out her new sun hat

It was off after 30 seconds or so. It will be a nice challenge to try & keep it on during the summer!

Favourites

Here's Vera with her two favourites, her tambourine and her book "That's not my monkey".
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thats-Not-Monkey-Fiona-Watt/dp/0746093365/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332873726&sr=8-1
It's an interactive book and she knows exactly where to touch on each page!

Yesterday Vera and I went to Addenbrookes to Dr Burrows clinic for a check of her strawberry mark. Vera likes an outing and enjoyed people watching around the hospital. At the appointment, Dr Burrows compared her strawberry mark to the photos we took at a previous visit. It is still the same size more or less, but flatter and lighter in colour, with grey patches. We dont know of course if this is thanks to the Timolol or just nature's course, but good progress nonetheless. We have a follow up appointment in six month's time.

Vera also got weighed, she's 10.3 kilos.

Another super warm day, 20 degrees and Vera has been out all day. Terina took them for a long walk to Whittlesford, where they had a picnic and played in the park and on the swings!

Work and play

Clocks changed last night so Vera woke up at 8am, her 7am. I had to go into work to validate and sign off some data linked to this ongoing project we're doing.

Once back, the sun was shining on another glorious afternoon and Vera and I went for a lovely walk. Busy time for Vera, so many things to look at while munching on a maize snack!

This one is for the Swedes - maskrosor redan!

Spring inside as well. One of my favourite photos of mormor Gunnel and Nana Olivia taken at our wedding nearly 5 years ago.

Perfect Saturday!

Vera and I were up early, had breakfast and Skyped mormor and morfar in Sweden. After some more coffee for the grown ups, we went into town for some retail therapy. Mark bought himself a new toy, the iPad3 and I bought some work clothes. Stopped for a big food shop on the way home.
After lunch we went for a walk around the village. The weather has been amazing! 19 degrees in the shade. People in t-shirts and shorts around. I was still in my winter coat last week so this is a bit of change to the system. Anyhow, bumped into Clare, Al and baby Alice in the pub beer garden and had a nice chat and a refreshing drink.
We've had a lovely afternoon in the garden, followed by the year's first BBQ. Thai marinated chicken and thai noodle salad as well as sweetcorn.
And it's still only March!

Glasses

As both Mark and I wear glasses, it's probably very likley that Vera will too. Perhaps she'll look something like this?!

Bath time!

Home with daddy

Terina's son Theo is sick so Terina asked us to keep Vera home today. Luckily Mark was able to stay at home. Vera had a nice lunch and is enjoying some time outside in the garden. It's +17 degrees here today and it's going to be +19 degrees tomorrow! Can't say I'm not a little bit jealous - I also want to enjoy the spring weather!

Playing

Vera loves her toy box, full of goodies!

Playing with daddy

Vera knows how to say mamamamamamama and papapapapa (not dadadada which Mark would prefer)
And she knows how to throw a ball to her dad.

Books and "Bus"

Vera is interested in books, but is a very impatient listener. Most often is more fun to chew the book, or chuck it around. Tonight it was much more fun to cruise around furniture and "busa" (mischief) with daddy.

She's had a great day at nursery. Been out for a long walk and seen ducks and trains. She's had Irish stew for lunch and pasta with tomato sauce for dinner and finished all of it! She's also been singing, one of her favourite pastimes.

Mothering Sunday

I got a bit of a sleep in and Mark and Vera surprised me with a Mother's Day card and present in bed. So sweet!
We've done a few errands, stopped for coffee and enjoyed a proper Sunday lunch. Mark and I don't cook this very often but today we enjoyed roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and a tarragon sauce. Yummy! Vera enjoyed it too, but managed to get food all over, chicken in her eye brows and hair, you name it, so proper bath tonight.

Vera and I enjoyed a walk together after dinner. The sun is finally out after a drzzly day. The daffodils are in full bloom and the village is preparing itself for the Jubilee weekend!
