Six weeks' old

Our much loved eat and sleep machine was six weeks old yesterday. We still have no routine  (way too early) and I'm very much feeding on demand, so still not getting much done during the day. Apart from watching an awful lot of day time TV!
But Alfred's thriving and  gaining weight,  getting stronger and has  started to smile!
I'm so lucky that I have Mark who is ever so helpful with morning school runs,  shopping etc.

Visitors from Ireland

More family

Today we were lucky to have visitors from Ireland : Auntie Ruth, Auntie Pat and cousins Sarah, Kathy and  Ciara.

They brought lots of gifts for Vera and  Alfred and of course lots of cuddles!

Five weeks

Alfred is five weeks old today. He's sleeping in slightly longer stretches during the night, but wants to be close to me and Mark at all times. Some days he sleeps more than others. I don't get much done!
But I also try not to put too much pressure on myself and just enjoy here and now. It is ok just to have Alfred napping on my chest in front of the TV. They do grow up so quickly. Every moment is precious.

Alfred's focusing his eyes on us more and more and follows us round the room. He's a keen eater and is gaining lots of weight. Last week when we went to the baby clinic to get him weighed, he was 4.22kg, up from his 3.27kg birt weight, which dropped down to closer to 3kg. So he's doing well! (and keeping me very busy!).

Vera had a week off last week, the first half term of the year. We were very lucky to have momma Gunnel coming over from Sweden to meet Alfred and to spend time with Vera.
They and we did lots of fun things - cycling in the park, visiting Whirlow Farm where Vera met lots of animals and creepy cawlies and visiting the museum.

We also spent lots of quality time together at home, made pancakes for pancake day, baked traditional Swedish semlor, tidied up & chucked lots of old toys and a lot of cuddling, reading and relaxing!

Momma visiting at half term

3 weeks old

Time flies and our beloved boy is three weeks old today. His constant eating has made him a little rounder around the cheeks!  He still  mainly sleeps and eats though  but  is getting increasingly interested in the world around him,  mainly our faces!
