Walkies

Vera's musings

Vera has been talking a bit about the tooth fairy of late. She's told me that the tooth fairy will check that the tooth is the real thing before giving Vera any money, so there's no point taking a sweetcorn and painting the kernels white and try and fool her, because she will know and she will never ever come back again! :-) She sure has a vivid imagination.

Her reading is coming on well too and she is quite the independent little lady with a wide range of friends at school.

She's greatly enjoying having her new baby brother and she is ever so kind and helpful. She wants to kiss him, hold him and help out. She hasn't shown any jealousy or resentment at all so far.
We're trying to make a lot of time for her and Mark's bought her a best big sister badge that she'll get this afternoon.

I'm surviving on around 3 maximum 4 hours of sleep a night ad Alfred is very active during night time.
But that's the way it is and in the greater scheme of things it's a relatively short time period so we just need to get through it.

Yesterday we went on Alfred's first walk. Not the best weather for it but nice with fresh air nonetheless. Trying to build up for next week's school runs!

One week old!

Time flies and Alfred is one week old today!
It's an important day as Mark went to the town hall and Alfred is now officially registered.  We've also had a visit from the midwife, Alfred now  weighs  3190g,  he's 100g down from his  birth  weight,  so getting there!
He's also had his first bath,  which was a less than pleasurable experience,  but lots of mummy and  big sister  cuddles made it all ok again.

Proud big sister!

Alfred is six days old and is awake most of the night,  but sleeps like a baby  ;-) during the day!
Vera is a very proud big sister!

Alfred Enar Joseph Collins

He's here!
We're delighted to welcome baby  Alfred into the world!
It all started last  Wednesday,  I came home from work,  was meant to work until the  Friday,  and within 10 minutes my waters had broken.
We went into hospital for a  check up and  as nothing had started we were sent home and we're told to call back to  discuss induction on Friday.
Luckily things did start and  on Friday at 17.30 we headed in to  Jessops and at 7.59pm Alfred made a very speedy appearance into this world,  weighing 3.29kg, that's 7.25 lbs in old money.
We had to stay in a fee days  extra as Alfred had a bit of redness around his  cord area and the pediatrician wanted to rule out an  infection.  So my little trooper had a cannula put in and  received  antibiotics twice a day.  Luckily two days later, the tests came back clear and  we were given the all clear to go home.  Both of us have  received the very best of care but  were so pleased to be home!
Vera is a very proud and  helpful big sister!
