Sunny times!

The heatwave continues and we are embracing it! Shame Mark & I have to work, but Vera is having a ball at nursery with water play, walks and picnics!

The house saga continues and we have now found a mews house to rent in the area where we want to live and are moving up on the 12th August. Yikes! So soon! We have given the seller an ultimatum, that we must complete by 10th December or else we have to look at alternatives...
In any case, we have a roof over our head and a move date. The sale here is progressing and fingers crossed all is well and can be concluded soon.

Last Friday was Vera's summer party at nursery and she was her true energetic self, wearing a home made tail and an Indian headband. Loved having us there! We're making the most of the weather with BBQs so had one on Friday night. On Saturday, we took off early and went to to Sheffield to look at houses. Tough in 30 degree heat so we stayed over night and after the house hunting, checked into a hotel, got upgraded to a suite! and enjoyed a nice meal and a cool glass of wine and a large beer on Leopold Square.

Got back Sunday early afternoon, in time for another BBQ and a frantic baking session for me as I had promised to bring some baked goods to work for a charity bake sale in aid of cancer research (all my cinnamon buns sold!)

On Wednesday I went to dinner with some dear friends, two of whom I did my Management diploma with. We went to Las Iguanas and started off with a Mango Collins cocktail, followed by a yummy Brazilian fish and prawn curry for me. They gave me a farewell card and present. It's starting to hit home now...

Last night we went out with work and sat in the beer garden at the Cambridge Blue. It was a glorious warm evening in great company with colleaues past and present.

Vera is keeping us busy! Last night she thought it was fun to put grated cheese up her nose and preceeded to sneeze cheese for a while. Part of exploring I guess. Just before 8 o'clock, she declared to Mark "me tired. Me bedtime". She's the best!

Photos from the weekend

Update

Sorry for the radio silence, it’s been a very busy last couple of weeks, with a birthday weekend oasis in the middleJ
We enjoyed a fantastic day in the park in London with friends last Saturday, enjoying the amazing sunny and hot weather we’ve had of late.
On Sunday (my actual birthday), I was woken up (or pretended to be woken up! J) by Mark and Vera singing and bringing cake and presents.
We had a lazy breakfast outside followed by a dash to the shops and to town to pick up some new glasses.

We met Ana, Mark and Ariane for lunch as well as Mark’s sister and her husband (plus two gorgeous dogs!), first in Melbourn, followed by a few afternoon drinks in Grantchester

It’s been quite a stressful time as we’re having delay/issues with our purchase in Sheffield and may need to pull out. In short, and so as not to bore those of you who I’ve already moaned to:
Our seller, despite earlier promises of not holding up a sale, is now refusing to agree a moving out date and insists on linking her sale to a new purchase in Manchester (property yet to be found…)
As we cannot wait a further 12 weeks for her to find a property and close a sale, we are now having to look into rented accommodation and potentially losing lots of £££ already spent on the purchase.
We are also quite close to exchange of contracts on our house and do not want to risk losing our buyers at this end.
The house buying process here in the UK (Scotland aside) is truly nuts and it is very stressful.

However, as always you need to put everything into perspective. People remind me that 6-12 months down the line, this will all be a distant memory.
As I’m writing this, I’m listening to Sommar on Swedish Radio P1, where Kristian Gidlund talks about what it is like dying of cancer and reads a letter to the child he’ll never have
Truly heart breaking. Again perspective.

Chit chat

Vera's speech and vocabularily continues to develop and she comes out with some corkers!

Yesterday during dinner (fish, rice and broad beans) she states "Mamma! it's very nice!, very tasty".
She's also learnt, "I'd like some more" and uses it during every meal. Yesterday she had refill of rice and broad beans, a youghurt followed by a small bowl of strawberries. At least it's healthy stuff!

She also exclaimed when she saw a photo of Ariane yesterday that "I would like some more Ariane".
She REALLY enjoyed her stay at Ana & Mark's on Sunday!

Vera is getting ready to transition into the "Tigger" room, as she is now the oldest in "Roos". She's joined them for walks for the last couple of weeks, so I think it'll be good for her.

As a moving date is not on the horizon for us in the near future (severe complications...), we're ok for her to move, in spite of this being followed by a move to a new nursery.
She seems to take so well to change that I'm not worried.
